About World Cricket League Championship

1.What is the Pepsi ICC WCL?

The Pepsi ICC World Cricket League (WCL) was created in 2007 to provide regular playing opportunities for similar standard ICC Associate and Affiliate Members (AMs) in an international 50-over competition structure. It consists of the following:

1. The Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Divisions

2. The Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Championship (WCL Championship)

2.What is the difference between the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Divisions and the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Championship?
The Pepsi ICC World Cricket League currently includes six divisions. Each division has six teams, except for WCL Div 6 which has eight teams. Each divisional event is played approximately every 12 - 18 months and lasts 8 to 10 days in a round robin format. Promotion and relegation takes place between divisions.
The Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Championship is the top division of the WCL. It is an eight-team competition between the leading AMs and includes seven rounds of two home or away 50-over matches. Each team therefore plays 14 matches in total.  The Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Championship 2015-17 is due to start in mid-2015, with the final teams participating still to be determined.

3.How do teams qualify for the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Championship?
The top two teams from WCL Div. 2 will earn a spot in the both the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Championship and the ICC Intercontinental Cup 2015-17, which is the  ICC’s four-day, first class competition for AMs. Following the recent decision of the ICC Board to “break the glass ceiling” and allow the winner of the ICC Intercontinental Cup the opportunity to qualify to play Test cricket, the WCL has taken on even greater significance.
WCL Div. 2 will be played in Namibia from 17 to 24 January 2015.

4.Who is playing in Pepsi ICC WCL Division 2?
WCL Division 2 is a six-team event, with host Namibia joined by Canada, Kenya, Netherlands, Nepal and Uganda.
