Ervine ton lifts Zimbabwe to stirring win

Playing their first game against New Zealand in more than two years, Zimbabwe finally exorcised their end-game demons with some resilient counter-punching to gun down 304 with relative ease. The hosts came unstuck on a few occasions, but Craig Ervine, who finished with an unbeaten 130 off 108 balls, was at the heart of the successful chase, which ended rather anti-climactically with Nathan McCullum bowling a wide.

With 34 required off 18 balls, things looked rather ominous for Zimbabwe, who have struggled with their finishing lately. However, Ervine cracked Matt Henry for a brace of fours and a six to bring the margin down to 16 off 12, and then all but secured victory by smashing James Neesham for a four and a six in the penultimate over of the chase.

The win was only Zimbabwe's second of 2015, a polished performance securing them a favourable result after many near misses.
